And the Last 19 year Old Mary Hawkes 4/21/14 was shot to death by APD officer Jeremy Dear
Now, you may ask yourself after seeing this long compiled list "What is going on?" but this is only the deaths in the last 4 years. APD seems to have a systemic issue about every 20 years, with APD Cheif Eden and Albuquerque Mayor Berry haveing no accountabily either. And after many press conferences they have held it is clear that neither one of them want to fix the issue or care. This has been an issue that started with former Police Chief Ray Schultz, who now happens to work for TaserGate. The same company that supplies APD officers their lapel cameras. How shocking is that? With the DOJ findings already slamming the APD, stating:

This has been an issue that started with former Police Chief Ray Schultz, who now happens to work for TaserGate. The same company that supplies APD officers their lapel cameras. How shocking is that? With the DOJ findings already slamming the APD, stating:
- APD officers too frequently use deadly force against people who pose a minimal threat and in situations where the conduct of the officers heightens the danger and contributes to the need to use force;
- APD officers use less lethal force, including electronic controlled weapons, on people who are passively resisting, non-threatening, observably unable to comply with orders or pose only a minimal threat to the officers; and
- Encounters between APD officers and persons with mental illness and in crisis too frequently result in a use of force or a higher level of force than necessary.
Yet it is still clear that APD doesnt care if they are being investaged by the DOJ or the FBI with the lastet death of 19 year old Mary Hawkes on 4/21/14. After the DOJ Report came out! Now the officer involved in that shooting, Jeremey Dear, has a checkered past with APD, and has been flagged by the department before in the past. Why are officers like this still allowed on the force? I have no idea but it is APD we are talking about, by far one of the worst Police Departments in America. Which has even shot more people than the NYPD. A city far larger then Albuquerque with three times as many officers.
Hawkes had a number of run-ins with the law for things like underage drinking and shoplifting. She’s the daughter of former Belen police officer and Valencia County magistrate judge Danny Hawkes. She was one of the many foster children he and his wife took in and then went on to adopt. How many more have to be killed before changes are made? The victims and their families deserve justice. Below is a video we compiled over photos taken from protests and meetings from 3.30.14 - 4.24.14
